Yes, it does. Our platform will scale for whatever device you use.
Our hope is that you won't need to. We've done our very best and spent a lot of time and resources creating a platform that we are confident will take the chore out of studying. We take the approach that studying to understand rather than learning to remember is best. With rote learning, the chance for long-term effective recall is near zero anyhow. To that end we have strived to make our content as engaging and fun as possible with quizzes and progress tracking designed to help engage students and take charge of their own learning.
But of course there's always ways to help. If your child takes the quizzes frequently that data will inform you of their progress and will give you a clear signal if there are areas of the course they should focus on.
If Chemistry is a subject that your child is struggling with, we cannot emphasise enough how watching videos ahead of class will give your child a real head start. They will already be familiar with the key concepts but more importantly they will know in advance which elements of the topic they found difficult. This will help them keep up with the pace in class and help them to ask focused questions of their teacher. We find this makes a huge difference for those students who find the subject challenging.
Quick and frequent revision is key for exam performance and the most efficient use of time in the long-term. This is easier said than done of course. Students of Leaving Cert age commonly struggle to use time efficiently, often equating the amount of time spent studying with working hard. Our quizzes and progress tracking introduce an empirical measure to help them judge whether they are studying effectively and our revision notes facilitate frequent revision made quick by visuals that trigger their memory of what they have already understood. This approach is designed to maximise their use of time on the basis of how well they understand and how easily they can recall what they have previously learnt. Helping them consistently follow this approach can pay huge dividends.
Once signed up, start working through the lessons. These cover the entire course and it is easy to jump in anywhere. Every video is accompanied by a multiple choice quiz based on past paper questions. These will help you gauge your understanding of the concepts you have watched before moving on to the next video. When you have completed a topic, you can attempt a Topic Quiz. Your scores in these quizzes are recorded to allow you to track your progress and give you an overview at any time of which areas of the course you have mastered and which topics still need some more work.
There is also an animated video on every mandatory experiment. These videos contextualise the experiment within its given topic and walks you through the method involved with special emphasis on any calculations you need to do and any details of the experimental approach that have ever been asked previously in the exams.
Our illustrated revision notes summarise all of the key details from every video and mandatory experiment that you will need to know. These are designed in a way to help consolidate your understanding and facilitate recall. To that end they follow the video lessons closely and are crafted to trigger your memory of the concepts you have studied. Rather than reams of text, our revision notes purposefully emphasise visuals as this contextual learning approach is proven to improve recall. Wherever possible we guide you away from memorising and learning by heart towards a conceptual understanding of content, because, well, where's the fun in that and you'll have forgotten it in two weeks anyway! All of this is aimed to allow you to revise quickly and frequently because we know in the Leaving Cert there simply isn't the time to relearn what you've already learnt!
Our Past Papers Portal makes tracking down questions for what you're working on quick and easy so you can test yourself where it matters.
